Important Note: This article was last updated on 2/15/2023.
I consider myself lucky I only wrote the first few paragraphs of the opening story. This is going to sound wierd but I’ve decided to revamp the saga after a dream I had. I’ll get to that in a bit but first, I want to flesh out here the world this pure Fantasy series takes place in.
The saga takes place on a world not unlike earth called Salaria. The kingdom of Leonara is on a large, mountainous continent called Draconia. It’s believed when the world was new, a large dragon chose this landmass as its final resting place, becoming one with the land itself. The first king of Bastone, King Arnheart Basara I founded Chesire in the year 800 BCE–Before Civil Era–making it the first true human kingdom in the world. There were towns and villages home to various intelligent races scattered across the known world but Bastone is the first bastion of human power in the world–hence the name–which also coincides with the name of its first king.
I’ll pause for a moment and say the kingdom’s name is changed in the first story’s prologue to Leonara. Leonara Leonis, also called Lady Nara or Nara for short enters arena combat and wins the right to have any wish under heaven granted to her by the king. To avoid controversy or favoritism when she enters the tournament she excludes her last name. Nara is the second-youngest participant in the annual event’s history (age 14 was the youngest, she was 16 though the youngest is introduced in a later story) and would go on to become the first ever female entrant to win the contest. Looking to curry the favor and respect of her fellow knights by entering the tournament, she quickly rises through the ranks and ultimately wins the tournament.
Upon being declared the winner of the tournament, she boldly asks the king to rename the kingdom after her. She’s won the respect of the entire kingdom and the admiration of representatives from visiting realms all at once…exactly as she planned. Sensing something familiar about Nara’s swordplay and the sword she fights with, the king agrees to her request on the spot but in exchange he demands to know why such a prodigy was unknown to him until now. “It’s as you guessed, Your Majesty.” She replies. “My real name is Leonara Leonis. My father Aster Leonis sends his regards, his sword…and me.” Everyone looks on in stunned silence to know they have just been blessed with the arrival of the daughter of a swordsman once revered as a hero of the kingdom.
It’s said Aster Leonis broke a taboo and because of it, he’s since been referred to as a Fallen Champion. He disappeared from the public eye for some time and hadn’t been heard from in almost 10 years. Nara’s arrival is viewed as confirmation his bloodline continues. The following morning, King Vincent Arnheart I announces that henceforth, the kingdom will be known as Leonara in honor of the greatest knight the realm will ever know.
…Mind you, all of this is just in the first story’s prologue.
I’ve obviously updated this article several times since I first published it on May 13, 2016 starting last year. This time I’ve actually noted at the top yes, this was actually updated! I have a pretty significant announcement to add: I’ll be adding two new full-length stories after Book II: Bloodlines. This will make Empire the fifth book. I will also add another full-length story after Empire, making Succession the Seventh Book in the series.
Here’s the updated order with the new book titles included:
- Book I: Chronicles
- Book II: Bloodlines
- Book III: Damnation
- Book IV: Upheaval
- Book V: Empires
- Book VI: Legacies
- Book VII: Succession and Tradition
- Book VIII:
- Book IX:
- Book X: A Different World
- Book XI:
- Book XII:
Well, there you go. I’ve updated my overview of the stories I revealed before and also added some info about the new ones. I left the titles for Books 8, 9, 11 and 11 blank for now. I’ll revisit that sometime in the future. What I will say for now is Book VII: Sucession and Tradition is the beginning of the Second Generation. Although Leonara or people from Leonara are prominent in the entire series, other places and people will also get a lot of attention. Oh and yes, I only plan for this series being 12 books long. Will there be spinoff stories that focus on a character or two? Of course. It’s just a matter of time.
I’ve got most of the first, third, fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth books worked out in my head in terms of direction. I want to write the main books before I circle back for side stories personally. Starting with Book VII, the subtitles have two words. That’s intentional. I actually had three or four different title names in mind for Empires. A few names I considered were Hatred, Genocide and Injustice. When you read the preview summary for it below, you’ll start to understand that and more so within the context of the preceding story, Upheaval.
Now, here’s some info on the first seven books in the series:
Book I: Chronicles
As I just mentioned, there are other kingdoms in the world of Salaria. After 4 years of training and learning, Nara and her childhood friend Edward Walhart both become full-fledged knights of the kingdom. Having distinguished themselves during their four years as trainees, they are promoted to full knighthood. They’re then deployed with a detachment to Vulcan, an independent port city on the other side of the continent. They serve under the command of the kingdom’s crown prince, Gowen Arnheart who leads the expedition. After getting sidetracked by brigands, aiding a town being hassled by marauding Orcs and then a member of the group befriending a unicorn, they arrive in Vulcan in time to help them fight off pirates attacking the city. For their heroism, the town magistrate throws a feast in their honor.
The celebration is cut short when Prince Gowen reveals the real purpose of their expedition: To annex Vulcan into the kingdom of Leonara. It’s been 50 years since the kingdom last expanded its boarders. The knights and the town magistrate are both shocked when the crown prince reveals he made a deal with his father the king: If Vulcan couldn’t be convinced to peacefully become a part of their kingdom, it would be taken by force. The trials their group faced on their way to Vulcan convinced him beyond reasonable doubt that if ordered to, they would not hesitate to assist him in annexing the city using brute force. Having already seen what they were capable of, the magistrate is left with little choice but to accept Gowen’s terms. That’s when Edward makes a suggestion that may work for both sides.
About a week later, King Vincent receives word Vulcan has agreed to their terms and is requesting men and supplies to reinforce the city’s defenses. The letter also notes highlights of the group’s exploits on their way to the city as well as half of the expedition led by Nara and Edward leaving the city to take the fight to the pirates on a nearby island. The King orders two of his retainers to each lead a detatchment of soldiers to the town and to personally assist Nara and Edward in their task. By the time reinforcements arrive in Vulcan, the pirates have not only been defeated but pressed into service. Prince Gowan was impressed with the pirates’ sense of honor and has decided Vulcan will be a second home for the kingdom’s naval forces.
It goes without saying Nara and Edward return to the capital to a hero’s welcome. Mind you, this is just about a quarter of the FIRST book so…yeah. The royal family’s close relationship with an artisan family in the capital is a big part of the second part of the book.
Prince Gowan’s kid sister Princess Florette–called Flo for short by her friends and family–befriends a new classmate named Diantha Kloris. The young princess later learns from her father and older brother Yoshua the Kloris family were lowborn but after years of hard work, they made enough wealth to move into the artisan district on the third level of the capital, Chesire (more on this in a bit). The Kloris family represent the best of two worlds in the king and queen’s eyes: They came from nothing and after years of hard work, they had made it. Even the nobility respects them, which was a rare thing in itself.
Yoshua befriends Diantha’s older brother Enick, who works as a chef in a tavern frequented by the knights in the capital. His food is known throughout the capital and he is pleasantly surprised when he learns Enick is Diantha’s brother. The two share stories of being middle children with an older brother, a kid sister and the pressure to not be regarded as “the spare son”: While Yoshua’s brother Gowen is the crown prince, Enick’s older brother Harvan is a Mystic Knight and one of Gowen’s retainers.
The next day, Queen Hatari realizes the Kloris children and the Arnheart children have become pretty close in a very short amount of time yet she hasn’t actually met either of their parents. The head of the family, Roland Kloris is a renowned blacksmith in the North Armory. According to the records on file, his wife Keima is a famous tailor by trade. Queen Hatari then decides to make an unannounced visit to the girls’ school Florette and Diantha attends to learn more about the Klovis family for herself. The girls are surprised to find the queen of Leonara waiting for them at the gates of the school one day after class. Diantha is in for the surprise of her life when the queen tells her she would like to meet her mother.
Excitement changes to horror when they arrive at the Kloris family home to find Keima passed out on the floor. As luck would have it, Queen Hatari herself is the best doctor in the kingdom. Her medical skills are unrivaled and she has never lost a patient placed in her care. The queen quickly realizes this is no normal sickness: Keima has been poisoned. It’s a powerful toxin that puts the victim in a death-like sleep. It’s the kind usually used in to assassinate high-profile targets. Fortunately, they caught it in time so Keima’s life is not in immediate danger. They will still need to make a more powerful medicine that will be strong enough to negate the poison completely.
Some of the ingredients needed can be found in a region some of the knights who recently returned hail from. Queen Hatari summons Leonara to the palace, asking her to take Prince Yoshua, Harvan and some knights with her back to her hometown to collect the rest of the ingredients they need and return as quickly as possible. As soon as they leave, she summons Edward with a separate task: Work with Prince Gowen to find anf arrest whoever is responsible. She didn’t want to involve Harvan which is why she sent him out of the city with Leonara and Yoshua. He might not be able to stop himself from killing whoever is responsible for poisoning his mother.
By the time Nara’s group returns with the rest of the ingredients, Edward and Prince Gowen finish their task. It’s revealed Keima wasn’t the true target: It was Princess Florette, who was an unwhitting pawn in an intricate kidnapping plot involving a rival kingdom set in motion 10 years earlier. A plot that goes all the way to the throne of Leonara’s longtime enemy, the Demon kingdom of Lysandre. The plot discovered is part of a much larger, boarder war the kingdoms fought when King Vincent was the crown prince 25 years earlier. A war in which Nara’s father Aster Leonis became a legend. The king decides the time has come to reform the order the two founded during the war: The Guardian Sages.
…I think that’s enough of the first book’s plot for now.
That’s about half of the first book. Even so, this is just an outline of about half of what I have planned for the first half the book I just disclosed. There’s alot of details I left out on purpose!
What I will say is the botched kidnapping plot is the precursor to a civil war in Lysandre that the Kingdom of Leonara gets pulled into. Although the plot itself failed, the backlash triggers civil war led by Lysandre’s first princess and second prince against the Demon King, the crown prince and the second princess. The failed plot draws Leonara into the conflict but King Vincent quickly realizes that was exactly what both sides wanted after separately meeting with the leaders of both sides. While deposing Demon King Belithur Valentia would be in the best interests of Leonara, it could cause diplomatic issues with other nations that are also watching from a distance so Vincent comes up with a compromise: Leonaran forces will participate while wearing the colors of the Lysandian military. Officially, they are mercenaries and are able to participate in the Lysandian Civil War.
Without spoiling the outcome of the Lysandian Civil War, the final part of the book is more personal for Nara and Edward. Both knights distinguished themselves and and were promoted to Captain upon their return to Bastone. Nara’s father and two younger siblings as well as Edward’s mother are present for their promotions…and rumors the childhood friends will finally marry intensifies. There’s just one problem with speculation about them: Nara and Edward have love interests but it’s not with each other! About half of the final part of the book outlines the drama and emotional ride they go through during that time.
Finally, Nara decides to travel to Tyrisan, a theocratic Elven Kingdom on the continent south of Draconia. Tyrisan is closely linked to Nara’s late mother Anrianna. Aster took her two younger siblings to Tyrisan a few years earlier but since Nara was a knight trainee at the time, she wasn’t able to go with them. As she prepares for the journey, Nara discovers she is pregnant. She wants her first child to be born in the kingdom that bears her name but knows the journey to the southern continent will not be easy…until she learns King Vincent has given her an airship! Now a decomissioned military vessel, the Sky Walker was used by King Vincent when he was still crown prince. It’s quite the sendoff to say the least!
The elves of Tyrisan give Nara a warm reception as they did her siblings. While Gods and Goddesses having children with a mortal is nothing new, it is rare for a deity as prominent as Anrianna to willingly give up their immortality and become a mortal. Since she inherited most of her mother’s former power, Nara has a much easier time making use of it. For as long as a month, she can envelop herself in full divinity and maintain it even while sleeping. Her siblings can also do this but not for as long as her. Her maternal aunt, the Goddess of Renewal Anthuachan is so surprised when they meet she mistakes Nara for her mother at first. Anthuachan then shares with her niece a secret long kept from the mortal races…until now.
…I do want to explain a familiar pair of words I used from a few paragraphs back. Those familiar with the Serene Adventure Sagas will probably remember they played a prominent role, as did Force Energy. Consider this what is called cross-promotion: At a certain point in one of the Serene Adventure stories, one of the main characters checks out a copy of The Kingdom of Leonara: Bloodlines–the second book in this series–which in part talks about The first Order of Guardian Sages. They are inspired by the group’s exploits and adopt the name. Two different worlds, though.
By the way the first book will be subtitled Chronicles. The full title is Kingdom of Leonara: Chronicles.
Book II: Bloodlines
The second book Bloodlines focuses in part on a much younger Vincent Arnheart when he was still the crown prince and the order he founded with his best friend and retainer, Aster Leonis. Their exploits earned Vincent the nickname Radiant Crusader for rallying the entire nation to fight against a common enemy. It is also the story of how Aster Leonis became known as a Fallen Champion after the war, starting with when he met Nara’s mother Anrianna in Tyrisan and ending with her death 7 years after their first daughter Nara is born.
The second book is as much about the past as it is about the present and future. In fact, some events take place during the same time as certain events happened in Chronicles. For example. While the Lysandian Civil War was happening on Draconia, flesh-eating zombies begin to rise from a graveyard on the northwestern continent of Sunobarei. The city-state of Regalia spearheads efforts to beat back the undead horde before they overwhelm the living and sweep across the continent.
During Prince Rowan’s expedition to Vulcan, the Remorian Empire commissions an expedition to search the southeastern continent of Laufanua for signs of their long lost kin. At one time, Remoria was above the surface. Calamity saw it sink beneath the Primordial Ocean but some left for other lands. The Remorian Empire learned from records obtained from a few kingdoms a seafaring people landed on Laufanua but nothing else is known about them. Could they be the people the Remorians are looking for?
Book III: Damnation
In times of iniquity when Salaria was new, the Rayth’ashar ruled the world until Salar The Prime God defeated and sealed away the five most powerful. Salar deemed them so dangerous, knowledge of where the five were sealed and how is known only to a select handful of the Divine Council. Although the five most powerful were sealed away, there were five others. Two were killed while another two who retreated are hiding. As for the tenth, he struck a deal with Salar and was transformed into a Mortal. It’s now been 25,000 years since that time. A stranger washes up on the shores of southeastern Felourne. Little does the kind and unsuspecting woman who finds him know, there are longstanding myths and legends in every culture, kingdom and people on Salaria that speak of a monster in mortal guise. His appearance heralds the arrival of doom to whatever land and people he reveals himself to. His new target: The fishing town of Norath.
Meanwhile in the Ironhand Republic, a Dwarven Scholar named Nomas Peekin stumbles upon an underground facility long forgotten to time. It doesn’t take him long for him to realize the facility wasn’t created to keep treasure seekers out. It was created to keep a dangerous, ancient evil sealed away. A seal his zeal for knowlege and curiousity could release on an unsuspecting world.
It’s said the road to damnation is often paved with good intentions. Such is the case for a pair of Tyrisian Inquisitors on assignment in Regalia. They received credible information about the local government persecuting their people and travel to Regalia to investigate. They learn upon arriving the leader of the city’s Tyrisian Church has been arrested for the murder of three city guards and is awaiting trial. Not only that, they have barred aherents of their faith from leaving the city under suspicion of conspiring with the town’s Archbishop to take over the city. The Inquisitors seek the truth and before the case is resolved, the streets of Regalia will be stained with innocent blood.
Finally, Dr. Ivy Quill is a highly skilled Apothecary, Researcher and Midwife living near Hokkaido’s boarder with the rest of Leonara. Despite being renowned across the world as a medical genius, she is also known to have Multiple Personality Disorder. Her Apothecary and “Base Self” is Dr. Ivy Quill. Her Medical Researcher self is Professor Aya Quill. Her Midwife self is Dr. Erina Quill. The three personalities are very distinct from each other and each has her own set of memories as well. This becomes a real problem when a drug developed by Aya and sold by Ivy is used to poison a duke.
Intigued by her skills, Queen Hatari offers her a deal to avoid being executed. If she agrees to do three ethically questionable tasks, all charges against her will be dismissed. Each task is something only each of her three personalities can do. Ivy must devise an Elixir that can prevent Zombification and Petrification. Aya must research birth control methods and treatments for the various types of Beastfolk living in the Gallian Refuge Zone. Erina is tasked with helping three high-profile women deliver their babies: A Duchess, an Ambassador and a Princess. Failure in any of these tasks is not an option as not just her freedom but the lives of many are on the line. Although Dr. Quill has three known personalities, each of them is concerned the stress they are under could trigger the emergence of a fourth personality each of them have faint memories of. Who is The Fourth Quill and what could her emergence mean for the others?
Book IV: Upheaval
Between the Kingdoms of Leonara and Lysandre lies the Gallian Refuge Zone. 12,000 years ago, the Primal Empire ruled most of the planet. Beastfolk are humanoids with either the physical features of an animal or have the ability to transform into a creature more animal than humanoid. Just as there are a variety of mortal races, so too are there a variety of the types of Beastfolk on Salaria.
15,000 years ago, most of the various scattered tribes of Beastfolk banded together and formed what would be known to history as the Primal Empire. Already possessing superhuman strength and powerful magical skill, their abilities were augmented further by the blessings of their Gods. The origins of what brought the Primal Empire together has been lost to time. What is known is about 3,000 years after it formed, the Primal Empire fragmented and the Beastfolk largely scattered across the world. The sudden emergence of an ancient, primal and titanic race threatens to end all life on Salaria. Leonara reunites with Meego Kong, a childhood friend who is of the Primate Tribe of Beastfolk.
Adopted by a human family from birth, Meego left Hokkaido with Leonara and Edward when they left home for Bastone to become Knights. When the three have a chance encounter with another member of his tribe, the direction of Meego’s life is changed forever. He resolves to set off on a journey of self-discovery that take him across the world. While on his journey across Salaria, Meego discovers long buried truths about the Primal Empire. Truths about its origins, why it collapsed and what it means for Beastfolk now. During his journey, Meego also learns about the ancient race that arose in the past and is now threatening the world again.
Book V: Empires
In Book IV: Upheaval, The Beastfolk rose to the occaison and saved the world from their ancient enemy…only for another enemy from their past to arise in its place. This time, the fate of all life on Salaria is on the line as every military power is mobilized for war. Across the Primordial Ocean on the continent Felorne, a sleeping giant awakens after being wiped off the map 10,000 years ago: The Helian Empire.
In ancient times, Helion was the God of Conquest. His power was so great and terrible, the empire’s last Emperor made the daring move to take on an overwhelming force. Outraged by the Deicide, the other Gods of The Divine Council unleashed their wrath upon the Helion Empire and it was destroyed in a single night. Even with the combined might of 9 other Gods, they could not kill the new God-King so instead they sealed him away in a crypt deep underground in a remote part of the Felorne continent. In the millenia that followed, the land healed from the destruction wrought and in time, The God-King of Conquest was mostly forgotten by mortals to history.
…Until recently.
The return of the Ancient Titans set off a chain reaction and the fulfillment of an old Helian prophecy: “Should the Titans walk the land once more, the anicent seal of power on that generation of Helians will be broken and the God of Conquest will rise once more.” While Meego Kong and other Beastfolk around the world suppressed the Ancient Titans, the revived Helion Empire was preparing for war. To the surprise of their ancient enemy, some of the current generation of Helians have no interest in going to war with the revived Primal Empire. Instead, they seek the aid of nations in fighting the revived Emperor Augustine Alexander who is mobilizing his forces for war.
The Helion Empire first sends an armada to Draconia. They capture Vulcan and Nightshore, enslaving the entire populations of both cities. Bastone and Odyssion (Lysandre’s capital) rush reinforcements but arrive too late to break the siege. The speed in which they attacked and captured such large cities is beyond anything either kingdom has ever experienced. Similar reports and accounts are pouring in from other continents across the Salaria. The world hasn’t experienced such turmoil since the Primal Era.
Helion’s thirst for vengeance runs deep and the allied nations quickly realize his proxy kingdom’s unspeakably callous and cruel warmongering across the world is itself the point. Mountains of corpses are assured regardless of the outcome but the real question to be asked is will anyone survive? Nara’s expedition to find the nine Demigods takes her across the world from the depths of the Primordial Ocean to even Hatari Island, a landmass floating high above the world on the edge of space.
Even more frightening is the realization in why they are sweeping across the world: They are seeking children of the Gods who sealed Helion and those blessed by them from birth. It’s believed the divine blood in their veins will be enough to release the full power of the former God of Conquest. With his full power, the God-King will then be able to sweep across Salaria like a tidal wave unopposed. Leonara, Lysandre, Tyrisan and other kingdoms heed the advice of the Divine Council and form an alliance alongside the new Helian Republic to combat a common enemy. They also task an elite team led by Leonara with finding 9 specific Demigods who combined will be able to reseal the God-King Helion. As the child of a former goddess herself, Leonara is uniquely suited to the task.
As is revealed in Chronicles and Bloodlines, Nara’s mother Anrianna was the Goddess of Fortitude and those who had her blessing could withstand and endure anything. Although Anrianna voluntarily shed her immortality in exchange for living as a human with Aster Leonis, she still retained her powers. Sensing Helion would soon return and fearing she would not be around by then, Anrianna secretly transferred most of her powers to Nara while she was pregnant, dividing the rest of her powers between her other two children. Drained of her powers as a goddess, Anrianna died not long after giving birth to her third child and only son. Although Nara knew her late mother was once a goddess, she had no idea like her father Aster chose her to be his successor, her mother Anrianna had also chosen her to be her successor.
Now a seasoned swordswoman and Knight of Leonara, Nara quickly realizes she has been thrust into a war for not just the fate of the kingdom that bears her name but all living things on Salaria. The stakes are personal for Nara with her three oldest children fighting in the conflict. She granted them powerful blessings but they are still mortal beings. Nara sees for herself the extent of the destruction the Helion Empire is having on the world during her travels and it becomes clear that if Emperor Alexander is not stopped, the soon end of all flesh on Salaria is assured. Even in the aftermath of the Helian Empire’s defeat, long buried hatreds plunge Salraia into a century of war and conflict.
Book VI: Legacies
In Book V: Empires victory over Helion, Emperor Alexander and the Helian Empire came at great cost: The deaths of two kings, the destruction of The Divine Council, the lives of millions of brave heroes on both sides and the lives of over a billion innocent souls over the course of 100 years of conflict. Bastone has been left in ruins after Emperor Alexander personally sieged Leonara’s capital city. Not even the Leonis family was spared from the flames of the war. As Salar said at the end of a war that lasted for 100 years, “The Age of Mortals has begun”. Never before had not one but two whole generations been born, lived and died not knowing peace but that is exactly what happened during a century of global conflict.
After declining an offer of full divinity from Salar the Prime God himself, Nara and her sundered but still growing family sets sail for Gesthal, a mostly uncharted continent that is virtually uninhabited. She visited the land briefly during the Helian World War and decides to resettle there with her family and some of their friends from around the world. They build a town that quickly grows into a city called New Chesire.
About 20 years after settling in, Nara’s fourth-born child Ellison prepares to travel to Leonara, the kingdom that bears his mother’s name. He was also the last of his mother’s children to be born there and is a citizen by birth. Before he can depart for Draconia, city leaders ask Ellison to investigate the old temple on the eastern end of Gesthal. Suspicious people have recently moved into the ancient structure and there are concerns they may be cause trouble if left alone. A stranger to the continent who is also interested in the temple makes Ellison’s investigation a bit more complicated…and possibly more dangerous.
Much time has passed on Draconia in the afrermath of the Helian World War. Leonara’s capital Bastone was not only rebuilt but upgraded defensively in preparation for the next time the kingdom is attacked. Lysandre lost a third of its territory during the war after the Helians unleashed a biological weapon lethal to demons. The Sunerian Region has since been cleaned up but Lysandre agreed to allow it to remain ceded as an autonomous region. As thanks to Nara for being instrumental in saving the world from Helion and the Helion Empire, Leonara made the Hokkaido region autonomous. Nara’s childhood friend Edward Tyrannus rules Hokkaido as Regent Lord.
When he first arrives in Bastone, Ellison meets Edward’s daughter Lucille and they immediately clash. Things get complicated when Princess Florette Arnhart asks for both of them to join her expedition to the former Helion Empire. A recently unearthed temple similar to the one Ellison investigated on the Gesthal continent was found there. As one of the world’s foremost experts on the Rayth’ashar, a certain member of the Leonis family has requested she see the temple in person. Ellison being asked to join her makes sense given what he experienced. As for Lucille, things become clearer when they arrive.
Not long after Ellison left Gesthal for Draconia, Nara receives an urgent letter from Regalia on the Sunobarei continent. They’ve recently lost contact with Varmir, a snowy mountain town northeast of the city. When they sent scouts to investigate, they found the town overrun with Rayth’ashar and Riqa. Nara puts together a team to join her in dealing with the fallen town. When they arrive, they learn The Nightmare Dream–one of the Nameless Ones sealed away by Salar millenia ago–is now free. If he isn’t resealed or defeated, the entire world will be in danger. Even with two gods and four Demigods who’ve seen several lifetimes of war and conflict, victory is anything but assured when the enemy invades and fights the mind directly.
A group of adventurers from Tyrisan and the Remorian Empire arrive in Laufanua on a recovery mission. An elite 40-man squad of mercenaries previously sent to the continent to survey a cavern was wiped out by monsters but four survivors did manage to escape. Six months year later, a recovery team is sent in to retrieve the bodies of those killed…and kill whatever killed them. Ever wonder what happens in a video game, tv show or movie when the good guys fail and end up losing or dying? This tale will be quite the story to say the least. Let’s just say not every story has a happy ending.
Finally, Salaria must say goodbye to Leonara Nara. Revered by most of the world as a legendary warrior and champion, her death comes as a shock despite her heroic final act: Rescuing her newborn daughter from being sacrified in a foul ritual. Her last words were naming her 33rd child: “Rheanri”. As the world stops to remember an iconic woman who touched every corner of the planet, the realization sets in that the child she died saving will grow up never knowing her mother as most of her siblings knew her. Another realization is before she died, the circumstances forced Leonara to do for her newborn daughter what she resisted doing for her other 32 children: Pass on the same Divine Power she once inherited from her own mother. In other words, Rheanri is born a Demigod like her mother was.
Two days after her untimely death and burial, Salar himself descends and personally ressurrects Leonara. “As foretold, the final chapter of your life on this world has now been written. Death will not be the end for you however…” Leonara’s time on Salaria may be up but clearly Salar has another fate in mind for her. That new fate will be revealed in Book X: A Different World however…
Book VII: Succession and Tradition
Leonara’s niece and apprentice Ilyana Nara, who was born 20 years before the war ended decides to raise her newest cousin along with her own family. Ilyana lives in Hokkaido where her aunt, mother and uncle grew up. The Nara clan beams with pride and honor when word spreads across the world the late Leonara Nara was personally resurrected by Salar and departed with him. This is the first time in the history of the world that Salar personally stepped in after the death of one of his people.
…That’s all I’ll share for now.
Anyone who’s read any of my story overviews knows I like to give folks a pretty clear picture of what’s to come so…yeah. It goes without saying I have a very clear direction for this series. It will certainly take some time to write just the first book–I predict 4 to 6 years when I actually get to it–but I will get it done and I will not publish any of the books until I am 100% satisfied with the finished project.
This will be my first major project in Fantasy that isn’t a Fanfic. I consider the Serene Adventure Sagas Sci-Fi first and Fantasy second on that note. I plan to release the books in both physical and digital form. Obviously not for free. If the first book is well-received, spinoff stories in the same universe aren’t out of the question. I already have a few in mind actually.
…More info to come in time.
